Guys, there is no free lunch - Somebody will always have to pay

Anyone, and I mean anyone with one iota of commons sense knew from the word go that O-care would not work. You could go into all the complexities of the law and extract this and that but the bottom line is simple: if you increase demand without increasing supply, costs will go up. The question is for who? Well that’s easy silly- the young of course:

Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito pointed out during last year's Supreme Court argument on ObamaCare that young, healthy adults today spend an average of $854 a year on health care. ObamaCare would require them to buy insurance policies expected to cost roughly $5,800. The law, then, isn't just asking them to pay for "the services that they are going to consume," he continued. "The mandate is forcing these people to provide a huge subsidy to the insurance companies [so they, in turn could] subsidize services that will be received by somebody else."

So the question is - once the young healthier folks realize that they are paying around $5,000/year more for someone else to have a sex change operation or paying for contraceptives not to mention abortions, how many will still sign up for it? My guess is not too many. In fact I think, once the young realize just how thoroughly they’re screwed by this law, they will not be happy.

If the GOP were serious about taking the senate and keeping the house they need to go high wide and handsome with this message directly targeting these younger voters.

Update: No sooner than I publish this post than I ran across this:

About one in four Americans ages 18-30 say they “don’t really need” health insurance, according to the Kaiser Family Foundation. About 35 percent are unwilling to say it’s “worth the money it costs.”

And that's before O-Care really gets going too. Just think what those numbers will be a year from now when these kids have to pay $5,800!

Obama: Secularism is the ONLY Answer!

Honestly, could Obama embarrass the office of the president any more? This administrations’ lack of curiosity when it comes to the countries they visit is spectacular. From preaching to the Austrians about their Austrian language, to bowing to the emperor of Japan, it almost seems like it is on purpose. So this weekend, his Highness went to the G8 summit in Northern Ireland and of course thought it necessary to stick his foot in his mouth:

“If towns remain divided—if Catholics have their schools and buildings and Protestants have theirs, if we can’t see ourselves in one another and fear or resentment are allowed to harden—that too encourages division and discourages cooperation,”.

Clearly, this man has no idea what caused the confect in Ireland over the past several 100 years. It is apparent that he believes it’s just a ‘religious thing’. So it’s up to him to tell these backwater hillbilly’s to just stop clinging to your guns and religion and get yourselves some state approved school’n and you’d all just be get’n along like a pig in poop!

What an idiot. If he’d take two seconds to actually ask someone he would discover that politics, not religion, was the culprit for the ongoing fighting between the Orangemen and the Catholics. The religious affiliation of the various camps was simply a way to determine who was on your team. In fact, the fighters did not fight so much for religious fervor at all but rather for political gain. So for Obama to go to Northern Ireland and lecture them about something he knows nothing about is just pathetic.

But that’s not all from this nugget of wisdom. In his speech, he suggests that having schools affiliated with various religions is divisive. Where the hell did that come from? How many schools in the US are affiliated with some religious order? My guess is somewhere in the 10’s of thousands. Where is the constant  rioting in the streets Obama is suggesting in his speech?

Again, Obama gets caught filtering things through his liberal spectacles. Northern Ireland has been racked with conflict for most of the last century; thus, any progressive worth their salt can clearly see that the problem is - they don’t have mandated public schools where the young can be indoctrinated taught proper progressive thinking. So Obama, never one to shy away from imparting his vast knowledge, gives a speech denouncing religious schools as the cause of the conflict (with no evidence whatsoever).

I tell you what, if he feels so comfortable lecturing people about the evils of religious affiliated schools, why doesn’t he get on down to Cairo and lecture the Muslim/Christians about their schools? I’m sure they’d be all ears

Obama Picks a Winner!

This from the USA Today

PALO ALTO, Calif. (AP) — Tesla is recalling as many as 1,228 of its Model S vehicles, citing a problem with a rear seat latch in the electric sports sedan.

I don’ think the news here is the recall but rather the fact that they sold over 1200 of these cars. Just kidding just kidding. No actually, the real news is that Tesla Motors borrowed almost a half a billion dollars from the taxpayers. At the time, I certainly thought goodbye to that dough. But I was pleasantly surprised to find out that the company plans to pay the taxpayer back almost 9 years earlier than initially thought.

Woo hoo for them right? Well if it’s all the same to you I’d rather these folks get their loans in from the market rather than the taxpayer. My meaning is that if the car is such a great idea then surely they can compete for capital in the free market like everyone else has to do who are not in tight with whoever is in the White House. Historically, the market is a much better judge of ‘good ideas’ than some bureaucrat sitting in Washington with no real business experience.

You see Obama doesn’t know crap about electronic thing-a-ma-jiggies - all he knows is that he hates “Big Oil” because you know they are killing the environment and probably babies, puppies and unicorns. So what he sees is a cool looking electronic car that does not run on “Big Oil” - never mind all the technical problems the technology still has - he loves it because it cuts ‘Big Oil’ out of the loop! Not exactly an objective analysis for an investment opportunity but what do you expect form a community organizer? Instead, the taxpayer is on the hook for whatever strikes the One’s fancy regardless of any analysis or how flawed the business plan may be.

Bottom line: It's easy to invest other folk's money, where it gets hard is when you invest your own. Do you think the One would have invested any of his own money in Tesla?

He (sorta) won on this one, but I see it more like a blind squirrel finding a nut than any real thought process. Besides, there are so many more that cost the taxpayers billions over the last 5 years that this one win is rather pathetic by comparison.

Exit question: Which of the ‘investments’ that the Obama administration has made in green initiatives over the past 5 years will the MSM talk about? This one where the taxpayer broke even or the vast majority where the taxpayer got played?
