Big Brother is Watching Folks

OK the name of this Blog "6079 Smith, W." is a reference to Winston Smith, the protagonist in George Orewell's classic 1984. The premise is, as you all know, Big Brother is always watching. This from the Washington Post: (emphasis mine)

The National Security Agency and the FBI are tapping directly into the central servers of nine leading U.S. Internet companies, extracting audio, video, photographs, e-mails, documents and connection logs that enable analysts to track a person’s movements and contacts over time.

That is a remarkable figure in an agency that measures annual intake in the trillions of communications. It is all the more striking because the NSA, whose lawful mission is foreign intelligence, is reaching deep inside the machinery of American companies that host hundreds of millions of American-held accounts on American soil.

This is way way way beyond the scope of the initial purpose and intent of the original initiative. What the government is now telling us is that ALL of us are potential enemies of the state and there is nowhere you can hide that we will not find you.

Think about it for just a minute. You are sitting in your house reading this blog and there is someone from the government that knows, not only that you are reading my nefarious blog, but that you may call someone and tell them about it. Your entire web and call history can be crossed referenced and is now public record for anyone in the government to see. And, God forbid, the government doesn’t like your viewing habits and can label you an enemy of the state and sic the IRS on you. I’m telling you guys this is one step away from the night of broken glass.

This is scary stuff folks.

Seriously - is anybody really shocked that the WH is racked with scandals?

 

Alternate title - The media feels like a battered wife

Been working on other stuff sorry for not being around to amuse and enlighten - well amuse anyway. With all the fun going on in Washington, I thought I might through my 2 cents worth in. 

I’m speaking of course about Scaldalmainia. Here’s my question - does this really come as a shock to anyone? I mean it’s not like the media actually vetted this guy for the position. From community organizer (still don’t know what that means) to state senate to US senate to President. Again, it’s hard for me to understand how anybody could have expected anything different. Add to that he’s political learning’s came from Chicago and one has to wonder why there are only 4 scandals.

But in reality there may be more. It’s not like the mainstream media is actually paying attention. According to John Nolte over at Breitbart.com the big three have come kicking and screaming to even mention them (emphasis mine):

Our media is not only biased, it is an utter and complete failure and embarrassment. And although there are plenty of remaining table scraps to make meals out of, the media is already losing interest in the IRS, Libya, and AP scandals, but for only one reason--they are absolutely terrified of where they might lead.

And that’s just it - they (THE FREAKING MEDIA) are terrified of what they may find. Read: They are afraid to do their jobs because They don’t want to be the one to blow the whistle on The One.

This sounds like a battered who blames themselves or others for getting whacked around all the time. Just look what the Honorable Congressman from Washington Jim McDermott had to say to the citizens that were taken to task by the IRS over their political/religious beliefs:

“I haven’t heard a single word here about what questions you think we ought to be able to ask you about your tax-exempt request,” he said. “Anything else, like the circus that’s happening in the Oversight Committee or here, is simply political theater.”

Really! What questions the applying organization thinks should be asked? - um gee, I don’t know - how about the same ones you ask to 501(c)’s that aren’t Tea Party related for a start. Talk about blame the victim McDermott.

Not to fear though, Vice President (doh) Rep Paul Ryan didn’t let this old dinosaur get away with his nonsense. Not only did he call McDermott on it so did Megan Kelly (sigh) later on.

So it would seem that the media’s lack of interest in the presidents background when he was running in 2008 and the continued head-in-the-sand attitude since, has come back to haunt their credibility. - One can only hope that eventually it will hurt their wallets as more and more people turn from the water-carrying networks to sources that will tell it like it is. Oh well I can dream.

Hot-Rod Harry is off his meds again.

The Senior Senator from Nevada had this to say in an interview with HuffPo:

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) has what he says is an informed explanation for why Mitt Romney refuses to release additional tax returns. According a Bain investor, Reid charged, Romney didn't pay any taxes for 10 years.

I just.. I mean.. how did he…. SAY WHAT???

Those of you who have followed politics and especially the Senate will not have to go back too far to remember Senator Robert Byrd. I'll not go into the KKK membership of his youth, what I want you too remember that at the last throes of his career, every time he got up to speak the other members of his caucus were on tender hooks waiting to spin whatever bovine excrement that was sure to come out of his mouth. Point in fact, anybody remember this one (skip to the 1:10 mark for the money shot)?


 
My point in bringing up Byrd is that he added nothing to the Senate at that point in his life. Likewise, Reid is now clear of the proverbial shark by a good mile and a half. In his interview, he claims that Mitt Romney who has been in the public for more than 20 years and has a ton of money hasn't paid taxes for 10 Years? Really? And, Reid's 'informant' is an investor? What the hell does that mean.


Exit Question: What does Reid do all day? He hasn't passed a budget (required by law by the way) in 4 years. What are the people in Nevada paying this guy for?

Proven: Blacks 4 times more racist than whites!

Recently Virginia State Senator L. Louise Lucas not only suggested but actually insisted that as a matter of indisputable fact Mitt Romney is - wait for it - racist!:

State Sen. L. Louise Lucas (D-Portsmouth), a campaign surrogate for President Obama in Virginia, said Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney is appealing to racists who do not want a black man in the White House.

Asked on a Hampton Roads radio show why the former Massachusetts governor had been able to pull even with President Obama in a recent poll, Lucas said the problem was race

"Mitt Romney, he's speaking to ... a segment of the population who does not like to see people other than a white man in the White House or in any other elective position," Lucas said Tuesday. "Let's be real clear about it — Mitt Romney is speaking to a group of people out there who don't like folks like President Barack Obama in any elective or leadership position. We know what's going on here. And some people may be afraid to say it, but I'm not. ... He's speaking to that fringe out there who do not want to see anybody but a white person in a leadership position."

Wow, not mincing words here, for the Honorable L. Louise Lucas to be able to make this claim she must have some pretty good evidence to back it up - Right? Right?

<insert crickets chirping here>

Uh actually no. She simply threw out the claim fresh from her posterior as if it were perfectly obvious that anyone with the audacity to run against his highness - The One - had to be a card carrying member of the KKK.

That being said I tried to 'help a sista out' by doing something that I am sure Ms. Lucas has never once in her life done and that is to try to find something to backup the bile she so casually tosses out. Henceforth I found in yesterday's Rasmussen's daily tracking poll that - gulp - she might be right because Romney has a 20 point lead among whites!!!

Lordy Jesus, Say it ain't so!

Oh but wait a cotton picking minute - in that same poll it appears that Obama (oddly enough a black man) enjoys an 82% lead among blacks!

Hmmmm, so that means one of two things. Either blacks are four times more racist than whites orrrrrr maybe, just maybe, a majority of whites have had enough of the "hope and change" nonsense and are voting in their best interest (regardless of race) and by golly blacks might just be doing the same thing too.

Nah - forget that - it's much easier to just play the race card.

My guess is that Ms. Lucas is as vacuous as most of the elected officials we have at every level of government. Where rhetoric is much more politically valuable than actually knowing what the hell you are talking about because politics are not about solving problems anymore, but rather, getting as much face time as possible to get that next vote.
