Broccoli Flavored Ice Cream Anyone?

Wow! I am stunned that anybody in the world is stunned that the Chevy Volt is suspending production to 'align production to the lack of market demand'. Golly, you mean if you make something that is overpriced, underperforms and has no viable place in the market it fails? Knock me over with a feather.

This from GM Spokesman Chris Lee:

"We needed to maintain proper inventory and make sure that we continued to meet market demand," GM spokesman Chris Lee said in a telephone interview.

That 'continue to meet market demand' is rich to say the least. I have written several times about this administration's attempts to manipulate the markets to better align with the their world view of exactly how Americans should behave. And just like every other attempt to rig the market it has become a colossal failure. Color me shocked! Between the technical failures and market price of this, um, product I'm surprised they sold as many as they did. But didn't P.T. Barnum once say 'there's a sucker born every minute'? Well apparently there were over 7,000 of them who bought this explosive lemon.

GM CEO Daniel Akerson has a different take on why exactly the Volt hasn't exceeded the paltry 10,000 unit mark:

"We did not develop the Chevy Volt to be a political punching bag," General Motors CEO Daniel Akerson testified before Congress in the same January hearing. "We engineered the Volt to be a technological wonder."

Do you see what he is trying to say here? The reason for the Volt's failure is not the fact that it's a rolling toxic bomb - no, the reason it failed is the fact that the bible toting/gun clinging public is too stupid to see the geniusness of this modern marvel.

News flash Mr. Akerson, your precious marvel didn't even make the top 12 Greenest Car list this year.

I would say this is a victory for the market, but given the billions of taxpayer dollars that were flushed down the toilet on this project let's just call it a draw.

Without Obama, Your Boss Decides Who Can Have Sex!

I found this on Obama/Biden tumblr page:

If you can't read it go to the link and click on the image.

It has always been my firm belief that arguments should be won on merit. That being said this nonsense is not even approach addressing the, uh, virtues of their argument. Instead the administration would rather distort flat out lie in order to scare constituents into voting for their position.

If you read it carefully I'm sure you noticed:

  1. It implies that an employer can decide which of its employees can have sex and which can't
  2. It only talks about preventative contraceptives and fails to mention the sterilization/morning after pill which are post-colitis, thereby avoiding the 'moral/ religious' controversy altogether.
  3. It suggest that you will need to ask/beg for your CEO's permission to buy rubbers
I don't know who the geniuses are that come up with this nonsense for the Obama/Biden team but they should be fired. Not because I am offended by this crap, but rather if I were his supporters I would be offended by how stupid they think I am.

How Do You Keep Health Cost Down? Kill all the kids

Cruella Deville is in the house hide your kids!

Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius had this to say to a House panel Thursday:

"The reduction in the number of pregnancies compensates for the cost of contraception," Sebelius said. She went on to say the estimated cost is "down not up."

Let's leave the fact that this administration feels comfortable directing the practices of private organizations and of their shredding of the first amendment for another blog. In this blog I just want to point out the absurdity of her statement.

So let me get this straight. Sebelius is saying that by mandating that insurance companies have to provide contraceptives for free, their cost will actually decrease. God I love liberal math! Not sure where Kathleen got her business degree but at Carolina I was taught differently.

As the current administration has repeatedly said, the EVIL insurance companies are only in the health care game to make huge profits right? Well if what Sebelius said is true, why are the insurance companies NOT handing out contraceptives for free?

These people will say anything regardless of the truth.

This Just In: Obama Hates the Military

This nugget was tucked into the President's, um, 'budget' he proposed last week.

The Obama administration's proposed defense budget calls for military families and retirees to pay sharply more for their healthcare, while leaving unionized civilian defense workers' benefits untouched. The proposal is causing a major rift within the Pentagon, according to U.S. officials.

A major rift within the pentagon? What about in every household in America that directly benefits from the unbelievable work these folks do 24/7?. One of the few things my tax dollars go toward that I care deeply about is our men and women in uniform. These HEROES put themselves in harm's way and get paid basically squat! The very least we could do is ensure that they and their families have access to the best medical care we can provide.

Now you might ask yourself why Obama would pick this fight. Well my guess is this move is designed to increase the enrollment in Obamacare's (universally hated and surely unconstitutional) state-run insurance exchanges. Just a guess tho.

So how much more will our men and women in uniform have to pay?

Significantly, the plan calls for increases between 30 percent to 78 percent in Tricare annual premiums for the first year. After that, the plan will impose five-year increases ranging from 94 percent to 345 percent—more than 3 times current levels.
According to congressional assessments, a retired Army colonel with a family currently paying $460 a year for health care will pay $2,048.

Wow almost 5 times current levels! Let me ask you a question. If your auto insurer decided to pull this kind of rate increase what would you do? Fire them and look for another provider. But here's the kicker, these folks can't do that. They are trapped by the fact that they are government employees and they get what they get.

Secondarily, (and certainly not by accident) you will notice that the precious DOD unionized civilian workers were spared this expense. Gee I wonder why?

Well Obama did promise the most transparent administration in history. This moves is proof positive that he detests the United States Military. Well done Barry!

The End of Civilization

This is unbelievable, here is the abstract from a paper published in the Journal of Medical Ethics called After-birth abortion: why should the baby live?:

Abortion is largely accepted even for reasons that do not have anything to do with the fetus' health. By showing that (1) both fetuses and newborns do not have the same moral status as actual persons, (2) the fact that both are potential persons is morally irrelevant and (3) adoption is not always in the best interest of actual people, the authors argue that what we call 'after-birth abortion' (killing a newborn) should be permissible in all the cases where abortion is, including cases where the newborn is not disabled.

Really? This is what passes for critical thought nowadays? This paper was apparently peer reviewed before publication. For this insanity to be published in a 'medical' journal and not some fifth rate crazy blogger is unbelievable.

But what kills me is this begs the question: at what point does the newborn have moral status as an actual person? And who gets to decide that? The parent? What happens when the newborn goes through the 'terrible two's". Are they considered an actual person at that point or does the parent still have the opting to commit infanticide 'after-birth-abortion'? Or when the teenager becomes defiant? Still not a person?

I mean honestly, the authors of this paper have the arrogance to say they can pinpoint when a person becomes a person? at this point I think academia can rationalize committing just about any atrocity. The Nazi's did it to the Jews after all.

So just so I'm clear on the liberal way of thinking. Not only is it OK to have late term abortions, but now - according to these geniuses - we can also commit infanticide, all the while capital punishment is taboo. Brilliant!
